DAY 01: EXCURSION ON THE AMAZON RIVER
We will begin our journey with a transfer from the office to our main port, crossing the imposing Nanay River Bridge, the largest bridge in Peru. Upon boarding, we will head towards the crossing of the Nanay and Amazon rivers, where we will witness the fascinating encounter of the black waters of the Nanay with the brown waters of the Amazon. At this point, we will be able to observe the famous pink and gray dolphins that inhabit these waters.
We will sail along the majestic Amazon River, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and visit an animal rescue center, where we will have the opportunity to observe different species of Amazonian fauna, such as monkeys, toucans, macaws, the prehistoric mata-mata turtle, sloth bears and the famous boa constrictor or anaconda.
We will continue along the Nanay River and then the Momón River, until we reach an artisanal sugar mill where we will learn how to make and taste our own sugar cane juice. They will also teach us about the different barks and roots of the jungle, their medicinal and aphrodisiac uses, with a tasting of typical drinks from the region.
Our journey will take us to the Amazon Camp lodge, located on the banks of the Nanay River, where we will be greeted with a welcome drink made with typical jungle fruits. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a self-service lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, we will take a jungle walk to meet one of the most famous tribes in the Amazon rainforest, the Bora tribe. We will participate in their traditional dances and learn about their customs and way of life.
As night falls, we will have dinner at Amazon Camp before embarking on a night excursion through the jungle. This outing will allow us to observe different species of insects, tarantulas, frogs, scorpions, monkeys and nocturnal birds.
Finally, spend the night at the lodge, enjoying a night surrounded by the sounds and magic of the Amazon rainforest.
DAY 02: AMAZING PLACES IN THE AMAZON
The day will begin with a sunrise viewing, where we will enjoy the splendid jungle landscape and listen to the singing and sighting of different species of birds that inhabit the region. Then, we will head to the Amazon Camp for a delicious breakfast, prepared with fresh ingredients from the jungle.
Next, we will embark on the Route of the 4 Rivers (Momón, Nanay, Amazonas and Itaya), sailing through its waters and observing the emblematic pink and gray dolphins that inhabit these rivers. During the tour, we will make a stop at the viewpoint of the community of Independencia, where we will have a spectacular panoramic view of the Amazon River and its tributaries, the perfect place to take photos.
Upon returning to the Amazon Camp, we will enjoy a tasty lunch before embarking on a fun piranha fishing trip in the vicinity of the lodge. In addition, the more adventurous will have the option of swimming in the river, enjoying the refreshing waters.
In the afternoon, after fishing, a delicious dinner awaits us at the hostel, before relaxing with a movie session, where we will watch one of the great productions that have been filmed at our hostel, such as Predator, Anaconda or Pantaleón y las visitadoras.
Finally, we will retire to our rooms for the night, with the sounds of the jungle surrounding us, in the cozy Amazon Camp lodge, where we will spend the night to continue our adventure the next day.
DAY 03: LAST DAY OF THE AMAZON ROUTE
We will start the day with a delicious breakfast at the Amazon Camp, prepared with fresh local produce, before embarking on an exciting boat trip to the riverside community of Padrecocha. On this visit, we will meet the Cocamas tribe, a community known for being great potters. We will have the opportunity to participate in their traditional dances and test our skills with the blowgun and the bow, activities that will bring us closer to their ancestral way of life. In addition, we will taste casabe, a yuca cookie, and masato, an alcoholic drink also made from yuca.
Next, we will visit the Amazonian butterfly farm, where we will learn about the different phases of butterfly metamorphosis. We will start at the interpretation center, then visit the breeding house and the flight house, where we will be able to interact with the butterflies in their natural state, enjoying their color and beauty.
Upon returning to Amazon Camp, we will enjoy a self-service lunch that will allow us to try more local flavors and recharge our batteries for the afternoon. Afterwards, we will go canoeing, navigating the calm rivers of the jungle, and we will have time to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the lodge.
Finally, we will return to our main port and be transferred to the company office in the main square of Iquitos, where our wonderful experience in the Amazon will conclude.
