DAY 01: EXPLORATION IN THE ALLEY OF HUAYLAS AND LAKES OF LLANGANUCO
We start the day with a nutritious breakfast at the hotel, which will give us the energy we need to begin our adventure.
We board the bus in Huaraz to begin our journey through the beautiful Callejón de Huaylas, located on the north side of the city. This is one of the most impressive landscapes in the region.
Our first stop is in Carhuas (at 2,650 m), where we will enjoy traditional homemade ice cream made from local fruits, a delicious flavor unique to the area.
We continue towards Yungay, stopping at the old town, buried by an avalanche from the Huascarán snow-capped mountain in 1970. From there, we will head to the new Yungay (at 2,500 m), where we can observe how nature and history intertwine.
From there, we head to the Llanganuco Valley. We will register our entry at the Huascarán National Park Control, a protected area that is home to impressive biodiversity.
We will explore the beautiful lakes of Llanganuco, Chinancocha and Orconcocha, surrounded by imposing mountains. Here, we will enjoy a delicious lunch while admiring the natural beauty of this incredible place.
Next, we will continue our hike to Pisco Base Camp, located at an altitude of 4,650 m, where we can enjoy panoramic views of the imposing peaks of the Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Pisco and Huandoys mountains.
Finally, spend the night at Base Camp, surrounded by the majesty of the mountain, in an environment of peace and natural beauty.
DAY 02: ASCENT TO THE SUMMIT OF PISCO
We wake up around midnight or 1:00 am to begin our day of adventure. After a short rest, we enjoy a very light breakfast that will give us the energy we need for the challenge ahead.
Next, we begin our walk along the moraine, a journey that will take us approximately 2.5 hours. This walk will be a preparation for the ascent to the summit, where we will be able to enjoy the mountainous landscape that surrounds us.
Once prepared, we put on the necessary climbing equipment to begin the ascent to the summit of Pisco (at 5,752 m). The route is of moderate difficulty, with slopes of 40° to 45°, which will require effort and concentration. This route will take approximately 1 hour of climbing, followed by an additional 2.5 hours to reach the summit.
From the summit, we will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains such as Artesonraju, Alpamayo, Caraz, Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Yanapaccha, Chacraraju, Brogui and Huandoys, creating unforgettable memories.
After enjoying the summit, we begin the descent, which will take us 2 hours on the glacier and 2.5 more hours along the moraine until we reach the shelter.
Finally, we spend the night in the shelter, where we can relax, enjoy the company of our adventure companions and contemplate the mountain landscape that has accompanied us throughout the day.
DAY 03: FAREWELL TO PISCO MOUNTAIN AND RETURN TO HUARAZ
We start the day with our last breakfast at the Pisco Mountain Base Camp. After enjoying the meal, we take the trail that connects to Lake 69, a 2.5-hour journey, where we can admire the panoramic views of the mountains and the Andean landscape.
Upon arrival at Lake 69, we will have 30 minutes to enjoy the stunning scenery that this lake offers, with its turquoise waters and the natural environment that surrounds it. This will be a time to relax and capture the beauty of the place.
After the visit, we will begin the descent towards Cebollapampa, which will take us approximately 2 hours along the normal trail of Lake 69. From there, we will take the transport to Yungay and then to Huaraz, where we will go to enjoy a traditional dinner at home. This will be the perfect closing to our adventure, sharing the experiences and memories of this incredible trip.
